KAHAKU School Programs
The KAHAKU School Programs are designed to help schools utilize the museum more effectively. These programs offer hands-on learning experiences using the museum's specimens and materials, and are conducted by our museum staff and volunteers.We offer two types of programs: in-person (on-site) and online. Please select the format that best suits your school's needs.

Program Types
In-Person (On-Site) Programs
KAHAKU Exploration! [In-Person Program]

This is a guidance program designed to help students utilize the Museum Card for a more effective viewing of the exhibitions. Our museum staff (School Collaboration Team) will share information on viewing techniques, tips using actual materials, and important notes for visiting the museum.
*The rest of the museum visit is self-guided (free viewing).
Museum Job Interview [In-Person Program]

A museum staff member (School Collaboration Team) will first introduce the various roles within the museum, then answer questions from the students.
*Please note: Interviews with research department staff are not available. We will answer questions related to "museum jobs" and "people who work at the museum."
The Secrets of Bird Beaks [In-Person Program]

Participants will observe bird skull specimens and use simple tools to deduce the structure and function of their beaks, as well as the birds' diets and habitats.
Bone Watching [In-Person Program]
Duration45 minutesCapacityMaximum 40 participants
Participants will learn about the structure of the human body in a fun way by assembling a dismantled human skeletal model.
Online Programs
KAHAKU Exploration! [Online Program]

This program is an adaptation of the in-person program, specifically arranged for an online format.
It is a guidance program designed to help students effectively view the exhibitions by utilizing the "KAHAKU VR," which allows for online viewing of the museum's exhibition rooms and exterior, alongside the Museum Card. Our museum staff (School Collaboration Team) will provide information, including stories utilizing actual materials, tips on how to view the exhibits, and important notes for a virtual visit.
*The duration can be extended up to approximately 45 minutes upon request.
Museum Job Interview [Online Program]

Through observing various bird specimens, participants will explore the secrets of birds' physical structures, such as the differences in the shapes of their beaks and feet.

This program is an adaptation of the in-person activity, specifically arranged for an online format.
Participants will explore the shape and function of bones by observing the skeletal specimens of humans and various animals.
Ecological Balance [Online Program]

This program focuses on ecological balance, primarily using research on invasive species removal conducted at the National Museum of Nature and Science's Institute for Nature Study as its main topic.
Additionally, the program will provide an introduction to the Institute for Nature Study.
