概要Summary
今日、生物多様性保全は人類の持続可能な社会維持のために不可欠であることが日本のみならず世界中で強く認識されています。そのなかでも森林伐採などによる生物多様性の消滅が著しい東アジアおよび東南アジアでは、人類を含めた生物生活空間環境や食料を提供する植物の生物多様性（植物多様性）の保全が緊急の課題となっています。
その背景を受け、東アジアおよび東南アジアの植物多様性の情報共有・問題解決に向けた議論を促進し、植物多様性の重要性と必要性を理解していただくために本シンポジウムを開催します。
本シンポジウムでは学術シンポジウム（11月9日～10日、使用言語は英語同時通訳あり）のほか、11月11日には一般市民への社会発信を目的とした公開シンポジウム「日本の植物多様性を考えよう」（日本語）を開催します。
