Specialized Training for Curators
The National Museum of Nature and Science provides high-level, advanced training for mid-career curators working in natural science museums and related facilities, with the aim of further enhancing their professional competence.*The application period for the FY 2025 training has closed.
FY 2025 Specialized Training for Curators

| Venue | Tsukuba Research Facility, National Museum of Nature and Science (4-1-1 Amakubo, Tsukuba-shi, Ibaraki) |
| Content | A practical course aimed at utilizing the mechanical collections held by various museums through hands-on experience in the maintenance of machinery artifacts. (See page 3 of the "FY 2025 Advanced Course Implementation Notice" for details.) |
| Target Audience | Mid-career curators and other professional staff from natural science museums, as well as humanities and general museums, who wish to acquire skills in handling their mechanical collections. |
| Capacity | Approximately 10 participants. (The course may be canceled if the number of applications does not reach half of the capacity.) |
| Application Procedure | The head of each affiliated institution must select a suitable candidate and submit one copy each of the Applicant Survey Form (Separate Form 1) and the Letter of Recommendation (Separate Form 2) via email attachment to the contact person, to be received
no later than Sunday, September 7th. (Required documents can be downloaded below.) |
| Selection | Participants will be selected based on the submitted Applicant Survey Forms and other documents. The heads of the affiliated institutions will be notified of the decision. |
| Certificate | A Certificate of Completion will be issued to those who successfully complete the entire course. |
| Course Fees | (1) The course fee is free of charge.
(2) Actual costs for teaching materials, insurance premiums, etc., required for attendance must be borne by the participant. (3) Financial assistance for transportation costs will be provided to applicants who request it, up to a maximum of ¥50,000. (See page 1 of the "FY 2025 Advanced Course Implementation Notice" for details.) |

Online Curatorial Professional Training
The National Museum of Nature and Science conducts online training for curators and staff with fewer years of experience who work at museums and similar institutions. The purpose of this program is to promote their further development and enhance their professional qualifications.*The application period for the FY 2024 training has closed.
FY 2024 Online Professional Training for Curators

| Dates | February 17 (Mon) and 18 (Tue), Reiwa 7 (2025) (Total of 2 days) (Note: The session on February 18 (Tue) will only be held in the afternoon.) |
| Target Audience | Curators and staff primarily involved in natural science departments at museums and similar institutions. (Priority will be given to those with approximately 10 years or less of experience.) (Applications are welcome regardless of curatorial qualification, job title, or position.) |
| Capacity | Approximately 30 participants. (The training may be canceled if the number of applications is too low.) |

| Selection | If the number of applicants exceeds the capacity, participants will be selected. Notification of the selection results will be sent via email by Friday, February 7, 2025. |
| Content | Live online lectures (via Zoom) on the research activities, specimen/material collection, and utilization carried out by the Department of Anthropology. (See page 2 of the "Online Curatorial Professional Training Application Guidelines" for details.) |
