This exhibition presents boneless sea creatures that surpass our imagination, showcasing their amazing, cute, and fascinating ecology.
When you think of “animals,” many people probably imagine creatures with bones, that is, vertebrates, including us humans. However, when we look at the animal kingdom as a whole, vertebrates are just a small part, and the vast majority of animals are boneless invertebrates. In particular, the oceans are home to a wide variety of boneless animals, creating a fascinating and unique world.

This traveling exhibition introduces the birds known as “Darwin’s finches,” which are said to have inspired naturalist Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. These were created as detailed bird carvings based on specimens borrowed from the American Museum of Natural History. The exhibition conveys the evolution of Darwin’s finches by comparing the shapes of their beaks and the sizes of their bodies.
