A section of the exhibition on the 2nd floor of the Global Gallery has been renovated, and a new corner, "Japanese Oceanographic Research: Exploring the Ocean, Earth's Last Frontier - What Have We Discovered?" has been opened to the public.

Exhibition Content

The ocean covers 70% of the Earth's surface, but the history of oceanographic research is still relatively short, and humankind knows only a fraction of what there is to discover. This exhibition focuses on Japan's contributions to ocean development, introducing deep-sea investigation technologies and research achievements, as well as current challenges like marine plastic pollution and next-generation energy issues.
