Feature and Habit
They have the prominent round melon and indistinct beak. The dorsal fin is broad at the base, low, round at the tip, strongly curved, and anteriorly located. The flippers are very long (over one-fifth of the body length) and falcated. The whole body is black (and large). Each tooth row has 8-11teeth. They inhabit in offshore waters. Sometimes, they come near shore during the period between late summer and autumn. They tend to be highly social and are in pods of several whales or many individuals.
