D VIII - I, 20 - 22; A II - I, 18 - 19; GR 7 - 9 + 17 - 21 = 26 - 30. Body oblong, compressed; dorsal profile more convex than ventral profile. Both jaws with bands of small conical teeth. Anterior dorsal fin soft rays elongated into filaments. Breast naked ventrally; lateral naked area separated from naked base of pectoral fin; straight part of lateral line entirely with scutes (37 - 45), longer than curved part. Color: body silvery blue-green dorsally, silvery white ventrally; small pale blue-black blotches along second dorsal fin base; anal and pelvic fins, and lower lobe of caudal fin yellow. Size: maximum length about 45 cm. Distribution: widely distributed in Indo-Pacific, from eastern coast of Africa to Fiji, but no record from Persian Gulf to west coast of India.
