Gonatus

* Lower beaks of the following three species resemble each others. It is necessary to observe degree of darkening of wing teeth, wing shoulder with beak size. Gonatus onyx and G. berryi are medium size squids, about 25cm DML and beaks are pigmented completely at about 6mm LRL.. On the other hand, G. madokai is a large size species, about 30-35cm DML and beak of about 6mm LRL has transparent wings and wing shoulders.
