Research Activities
Fundraising

The Museum is committed to the promotion of comprehensive and systematic research activities. In partnership with universities, research facilities and industry players, we conduct a wide range of joint and contract research efforts, strengthening partnerships with a broad array of external organizations.

We also vigorously promote research through a battery of research-funding systems. In AY 2008, the Museum received funding through twelve donation projects, three joint-research projects, three contract-research projects, 56 specimen-identification projects, and two competitive research funds (not including grants-in-aid for scientific research). Funding results from grants-in-aid for scientific research are listed in a separate table.
