The Library houses a large selection of books and periodicals relating to natural history, science and technology.

Guide to Using the Library

Open Hours

9:00 AM to 4:30 PM (reading reception hours are from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.)
Closed: Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays and year-end/New Year holiday

Reading and Borrowing

The Library is a closed-shelf library. The books and periodicals in the Reference Room are available to read at any time. For the books and periodicals in the stacks, please ask a staff member for assistance.
Please note that books other than those in the Reference Room are not normally lent out. They are for Museum employees only.

Photocopying

Purpose Photocopying is available for academic research purposes only. For certain rare volumes, photocopying may not be available.
Fee Black and White ¥37 per page Color ¥84 per page
Photocopying reception hours 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM.
Reception To peruse books from the stacks, visitors are asked to fill out the dedicated request form at the counter. For requests by postal service, facsimile or e-mail, please confirm that the book or periodical is in our collection at the link below, then submit the request.
