Head compressed; lower jaw projecting beyond upper jaw; mouth upturned, cleft of mouth almost vertical; gill opening not extending anteriorly beyond a vertical through preopercular margin. Pelvic fins separated. No scales on head; body scales cycloid. Sensory canals and pores present on head; transverse pattern of sensory-papillae rows on cheek. Color: head and body pale gray; no dusky horizontal lines on body; distinct black spot at ventral half of caudal fin. Size: 2.8 cm SL. Distribution: Andaman Sea and West Pacific. Remarks: found among roots of mangrove trees.
