D VI - 6; A 7; P1 14; LR 24; PDS 5 - 7. Body relatively short, compressed posteriorly. Head slightly depressed; jaws subequal; gill opening not extending anteriorly to a vertical through preopercular margin. Pelvic fins united medially. Scales ctenoid; cheek, pectoral fin base and breast naked. Sensory canals and pores absent on head; longitudinal pattern of sensory-papillae rows on cheek; a pair of sensory papillae just behind chin. Color: body pale (tinged with vivid orange on caudal peduncle) with 4 broad black bands, 2 of which on caudal peduncle behind end of anal fin base; head mottled with black blotches. Size: 3.0 cm SL. Distribution: Libong Island. Remarks: found in quiet waters of mangrove areas with soft muddy bottoms.
