Body not deep, the depth 2.5-2.9 in SL. Caudal fin rounded; pectoral fins short, 1.6-1.8 in head. Snout largely scaled; maxilla partially scaled; scales on abdomen ctenoid. Color: dark brown to yellowish brown, with irregular dark blue lines on head, body and fins; snout, lips, and ventral part of head and chest with small dark blue spots. Size: maximum length about 34 cm. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean-West Pacific: western India to Philippines, north to southern Japan (Honshu), south to northern Australia. Remarks: reef-associated; non-migratory; depth range 10-30 m. It prefers shallow dead or silty reefs.(Ukkrit Satapoomin)
