Body elongated, body depth 3.5-3.9 in SL. Gill membranes not united posteriorly. All pelvic-fin soft rays unbranched. Posterior scales on body ctenoid. Color: body color variable, olive to brown, red, or yellow. Size: maximum length 3 cm SL. Distribution: distributed from Andaman Sea east to the Samoa Islands, and southern Japan south to northern Australia. Remarks: found in inshore reefs and in caves with rich invertebrate growth in walls at depths of less than 10 m.
