Body moderately deep, compressed. Posterior margin of preopercle smooth. Suborbital naked, with entire ventral free margin. Teeth on jaws biserial, those in outer row incisor-like. Caudal fin weakly emarginated; no conspicuous projecting spine-like rays at upper and lower edges of caudal-fin base. Color: ground color of head and body blackish purple dorsoanteriorly, pale or pale yellow ventroposterioly; a small black dot around dorsal; pelvic fin white. Size: 4.0 cm SL. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, Andaman Sea, and western Pacific. Remarks: found in very shallow inshore area and reef flats.
