Body very deep and compressed. Posterior margin of preopercle smooth. Suborbital scaled, with almost entire ventral margin. Teeth on jaws uniserial, incisor-like. Caudal fin forked; no conspicuous projecting spine-like rays at upper and lower edges of caudal-fin base. Color: ground color gray, tinged with green, pale or pale yellow ventrally, darkened dorsally; small black spot (distinctly smaller than pupil) on dorsal part of pectoral-fin base; pelvic fin pale or pale yellow; leading edges of dorsal, anal and caudal fins black. Size: 9 cm SL. Distribution: Red Sea, Indian Ocean and Andaman Sea. Remarks: found in coral reefs.
