Carapace quadrangular in cross section, having no spines and no median dorsal ridge. Color: males with blue body with many small, dark edged orange-yellow spots; dorsal side of body brown with many white spots. Juveniles and females, body dark brown with many small white spots. Size: maximum 18 cm. Distribution: widely distributed in Indo-West Pacific and eastern Pacific. Remarks: feeding on a wide variety of benthic organisms.
