| V 127-130. 
 Body elongate. Two rows on upper jaw, inner teeth larger. Lower jaw teeth uniserial, with a few large, extra teeth in front. Vomer with biserial blunt molars. Dorsal-fin origin before gill opening. Color: body dirty yellow; eye with black marks; gill opening dark. Size: maximum length 26 cm. Distribution: Indo-Pacific, including Sodowana Bay, Andaman Sea, Ryukyu Islands, Micronesia, Society Islands and Great Barrier Reef. Remarks: inhabits holes and crevices of seaward reefs from the surge zone to over 26 m.
