Body elongate, compressed. Head subcylindrical; lower jaw slightly projecting anteriorly beyond upper jaw; gill opening extending anteriorly beyond a vertical through preopercular margin; gill membranes united medially, with free posterior margin across isthmus; anterior margin of tongue rounded; a pair of stout vomerine teeth. Pelvic fins united medially. Scales on body cycloid; head naked. Sensory canals and pores absent on head; reduced transverse pattern of sensory-papillae rows on cheek. Color: ground color of head and body pale; anterior part of head yellow; four diagonal broad black or charcoal brown bars on head and body; first and second spines of first dorsal fin black. Size: 4.0 cm SL. Distribution: Andaman Sea and West Pacific. Remarks: found on sandy bottom with rubbles in coral slopes and bays.
