Body moderately elongate, compressed. Head compressed; jaws not reaching to a vertical through posterior margin of eye; gill opening not reaching anteriorly to a vertical through preopercular margin. Pelvic fins united medially; frenum present. Scales ctenoid, excepting those on anterior part of body; head, breast and pectoral-fin base naked. Sensory canals and pores present on head; distinct transverse sensory-papillae rows on cheek; a pair of short longitudinal sensory papillae rows just behind chin. Color: head and body gray brown with numerous red spots, bright blue dots, and dusky mottles; proximal half of pectoral fin tinged with yellow. Size: 10.0 cm SL. Distribution: Andaman Sea. Remarks: Found in seagrass beds with sandy-mud bottoms. Will be described by D.F. Hoese and H.K. Larson.
