Body deep, 1.8-2.1 in SL. Teeth movable, with expanded incurved tips which bearing only lateral denticulations; upper jaw with 3-4 teeth, lower with 2. Margin of lips smooth to finely papillate. Caudal fin slightly emarginate to truncate, the caudal concavity of most emarginated 16.5 in SL. Caudal peduncle with 1 folding spine. Color: body orangish brown to brown with numerous pale blue or yellow dots; outer part of dorsal and anal fins yellowish brown with a narrow blue margin and thin dark submarginal line; caudal fin dark brown. Size: at least attaining to ca. 15 cm. Distribution: Indian Ocean, including the east coast of Africa, southern Oman, Sri Lanka, Christmas Island and Andaman Sea. Remarks: occurring on coral reefs in shallow waters.
