Hours of Operation
9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Visitors are admitted until 30 minutes before closing time.)
- Hours are sometimes extended for special exhibitions.
- Hours are sometimes extended in busy periods such as the summer and the Golden Week holidays.

Every Monday (If Monday is a national holiday, the Museum is open Monday and closed the following Tuesday.)

- Admission to the permanent exhibitions is free to persons aged 65 or over. Please present some form of identification indicating age.
- Disabled persons, plus one caregiver per disabled person, are admitted free. Please present your Disabled Person's Notebook or similar identification.

- Students of University Partnership member universities and the instructors leading them
- Persons wishing to re-enter the Museum (permanent exhibitions) on the same day are asked to consult the Central Information Desk on floor B1 of the Japan Gallery.

Nights for Astronomical Observation

- Nights for Astronomical Observation are offered from 7:30 PM on the first and third Friday of each month from April through August, and from 6:30 PM from September through March (Available on clear nights, for 2 hours).
At Tsukuba Campus, Nights for Astronomical Observation are offered from sunset on clear nights, on the second Saturday of each month.
